Benefits of Educational Tours Abroad

Changing Lives One Program at A Time

Facebooktwitterpinterestrssvimeoinstagram

Students Going Global recognizes the value in outward bound educational opportunities, so we offer six year-round Youth Development Programs where students explore the world around them through local, national and international outward bound educational experiences, focus on 21st century skills (global competence, collaboration, critical thinking and problem solving) and develop and participate in community outreach projects. Each program takes students on an Educational Tour Abroad funded by Students Going Global if a student is low-income. All students receive signed certificates of completion, recognizing them as Global Citizens for traveling abroad with Students Going Global and fulfilling the program requirements. Our ultimate goal at Students Going Global is to develop globally minded, solution oriented and community conscious students who become major contributors to their communities and to a global society.

What Are People Saying About Students Going Global?

“Students Going Global will broaden perspectives, help to remove barriers to success and provide students with a much needed opportunity to explore the global possibilities. It is difficult to imagine all that you can be when you have a very limited view.”  ~Iris Ware   /   “An Educational Tour Abroad is a motivational tool, and it lets students know that they don’t have to settle.”  ~Tamecia Batiste   /   “I see this organization changing lives as well as families and becoming a national organization.”  ~Andrea McCaskill   /   “It is important for youth to see the world. This exposure impacts their dream potential. It develops awareness for diversity and educates the whole child.”  ~Gloria Cunningham   /   “Much of the inner-city youth live “in a box” and merit current movie depictions as truth. Students Going Global will allow youths to have a firsthand perception of the world around them. It would also prepare them for the diversity of higher education and the work force. For some youths, Students Going Global may be their only opportunity to leave the country, the state, and possibly even the city.”  ~Shaquana Snyder

EXPANDING MINDS, HEARTS AND HORIZONS
and making Educational Tours Abroad possible for disadvantaged youth

Greetings,

As the Founder of Students Going Global and as a former Teacher and Guidance Counselor totaling fifteen years in Detroit, Michigan, I saw a need for more outward bound educational opportunities on a local, national and international level that would enable academically motivated, disadvantaged youth in at risk schools and in at risk neighborhoods to compete in a competitive, diverse, global economy.

In the 21st century, I do not believe that classroom education is enough.

Make the Right Choices

Facebooktwitterpinterestrssvimeoinstagram

Think Ahead Students, and participate actively in the circle of life, knowing that every choice  you make including friends, course selection, extracurricular activities, special programs, financial decisions, post secondary decisions and career choice will all impact what you aim to achieve in the end. Choose wisely, and be mindful! College and scholarship representatives are trained to seek out those students who have the greatest likelihood of succeeding academically and socially at an institution of higher learning and contributing positively to a college community. If you want to give yourself the greatest chance of success, in college and in life, take a holistic approach, which includes academic, social and personal development. Well rounded students are always in demand, so make that your goal:

1) Maintain Academic excellence and consistency
2) Embrace the community around you and seek out community service activities
3) Participate in the school environment, choosing a variety of extracurricular activities
4) Seek out leadership roles/positions, the most impressive addition to any application

Whatever you do, keep your goals in mind…Always! and “Surround yourself with only people who are going to lift you higher.”  ~Oprah Winfrey

“Invictus”
William Ernest Henley (Aug. 23, 1849-July 12, 1903) / “Invictus” means unconquerable

Out of the night that covers me,                 Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,              Looms but the horror of the shade,
I thank whatever gods may be                     And yet the menace of the years
For my unconquerable soul.                        Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.

In the fell clutch of circumstance                It matters not how strait the gate,
I have not winced nor cried aloud.             How charged with punishments the scroll
Under the bludgeonings of chance             I am the master of my fate;
My head is bloody, but unbowed.               I am the captain of my soul.
